As a self-represented litigant, involvement in legal proceedings can be intimidating and frightening. Sourcing access to information on the internet and elsewhere is time consuming, and understanding content of that information is difficult.

This can equally be the case for individuals with legal representation, and occurs primarily as the result of poor communication between the lawyer and their client. The lawyer may fail to provide the client relevant documentation and other information pertaining to their legal matter, or the lawyer just may not be taking the time to ask their client questions and provide adequate explanations.

For many, accessing the information that is available, and usually on the internet, is not a problem. This information is readily available through court websites. Yet, the lack of experience with the practical application of legal practice and procedure that underpins the information you have sourced makes it very difficult to know where to start. You often end up chasing your tail and running around in circles by following links that take you from one page to another, and back again.
